Needle felting quieted my mind and brought me back to my creativity. Roving Way is where I share the art of felting.
What is Roving Way?
Roving is the soft, unspun wool that felters begin with. It's where everything here starts.
Needle felting means stabbing wool with a barbed needle until it holds a shape. It's one of the calmest things I've ever done. The steady, soft sound is a lot like the drumming in a shamanic journey, and it puts me in the same kind of meditative space.
And somehow, what comes out of all that stabbing is so cute it makes you smile and gives you a warm feeling. Even though you were stabbing it!
It's an ancient craft, and a practical one. Felt is one of the oldest fabrics people have made, and it comes from natural wool. I love that it's gentle on the earth.
When you give someone something you've felted, it means so much more. You were thinking about them the whole time you made it.
