Big golden eyes, mottled feathers, mild judgment. A wool owl with opinions.
This one takes herself seriously. She is felted to look like a real screech owl, with a mottled bark brown body blended from several roving shades so the coloring shifts the way actual feathers do. Little flecks of cream and tawny gold are needled in across the chest and crown to mimic barring. Her eyes are the showstopper. Rings of ivory, then a wide band of marigold, then pupils packed in dense black, all felted flat into the facial disc and worked smooth. The beak is shaped in charcoal and tucked between two pale brow lines. The fuzzy halo around her head is intentional, made with a reverse felting needle that pulls fibers loose for a soft downy edge. It is the difference between a wool blob and an owl. 100% wool. No armature, just densely felted sculptural work. Approx. 3.5 inches tall.
